Information Management and Critical Thinking

As a dental hygienist it is important to have the ability to acquire and synthesize information in a critical, scientific and effective manner and to integrate information deemed appropriate into practice.  Through this program I learned how to use the PICO to perform evidence based research. I learned the importance of not relying on non peer reviewed journals and unreliable sources to do research.

HERE is a research paper that I did on the topic of Povidone-Iodine vs. Chlorhexadine. I wanted to see which one was more effective as an adjunct to non surgical periodontal therapy in reducing probing depths.

Another research paper that I did was on the relationship between occlusal trauma and periodontal disease. It can be viewed HERE.
